Types of information collected on the website and mobile app
There are two types of visitors to our website and mobile app:
Visitors who browse our website and mobile app who do not and/or have not made any purchases in the past (referred to as type1).
Visitors who make or have made purchases on our website and mobile app (referred to as type2).
Type2 visitors to our website and mobile app that are willing to use Studyroom’s paid services are asked to supply certain personal information (e.g. email, name, address and phone number), which is then retained by Studyroom. If you choose to give us personal information at such a time, this information will be retained by us and used only to provide you with products or services you have requested, or with additional information from Studyroom about Studyroom, its affiliates, or selected outside companies whose products or services we feel may be of use to you.
How we use your information
We use information held about you in the following ways:
To ensure that content from our Services is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer or mobile device
To provide you with information, Courses that you request from us or which we feel may interest you, where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes
To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us, including for billing and collection
If you pay for Services using a credit card, we will transmit your credit card data to the appropriate credit card company and/or credit card payment processing company
To allow you to participate in interactive features of our Services, when you choose to do so
To notify you about changes to our Services
In any other way we may describe when you provide the information
If you are an existing user, we will only contact you by electronic means (e-mail or SMS) with information about services similar to those which were the subject of a previous sale to you.
If you are a new user, and where we permit selected third parties to use your data, we (or they) will contact you by electronic means only if you have consented to this.
If you use the Contact Us form on our site, we will respond to your inquiry and delete the information provided after your request has been fulfilled.
Any information from selected outside companies will be transmitted by Studyroom so that such companies will not have access either to your email address or to your other personal information. Moreover, we will not sell or rent any personal information obtained through the website and mobile app to any other company or organisation.
If, at some point after giving Studyroom your personal information, you do not wish to continue to receive additional information from Studyroom about Studyroom , its affiliates, or selected outside companies, in general, you may opt out by sending an email to email@example.com and put the words “remove my name from your mailing list” in the subject line of your email; in the case of our email newsletters, you also may follow the procedures at our email newsletter registration page.
While your individual information is protected as discussed above, Studyroom reserves the right to use such individual information to create aggregated, anonymous data about users in order to develop statistics about activity on and visitors to the website and mobile app. In addition, Studyroom may disclose personal information if we in good faith believe that such action is necessary to (1) comply with the law or with legal process; (2) protect and defend our rights and property; (3) protect against misuse or unauthorized use of the website and mobile app; or (4) protect the personal safety, property, or rights of our users or the public.
How is my credit card information used when I make a purchase?
When you make a purchase, we ask you to provide your credit card information so that we can process your payment. During the ordering process, credit card information is transmitted through Studyroom’s website and mobile app to third-party credit card processors and card issuers that must use your information to process your order, namely PayUMoney.
What are “cookies” and how do we use them?
Cookies are unique identifiers that we transfer to your device to enable our systems to recognise your device. Cookies do not contain information that is, in itself, personally identifying, they merely provide features such as tracking sales performance of our affiliates and partners.
Type1 and Type2 visitors are both subject to cookies use on the Studyroom website and mobile app. In addition to your personal information, when you use our website and mobile app, we may collect tracking information such as your browser type, the type of operating system you use, the name of your Internet service provider and pages visited on the site.
Studyroom gets this information by using technologies (e.g. Google Analytics), including cookies to increase the functionality and user-friendliness of our website and mobile app and to better tailor our website and mobile app to your needs. For example, we may want to know how long the average user spends on our website and mobile app or which pages get the most attention. Information such as this will only be used in aggregate form and does not identify you personally. Other uses include placement of cookies to make the login process more convenient.
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act
No one under the age of 13 should provide any personal information. In general, Studyroom does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If in limited circumstances we do knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13, we will do so only with verified parental consent prior to collection. In the event that we learn that we have collected information from a child under the age of 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete this information from our database as quickly as possible.
